December 15, 2022 Council Meeting Highlights

The Kilam Recreation Board's recommendation to add an additional piece of high glass on each of the four corners of the ice surface at the Killam Memorial Arena and also to add netting above all of the high glass on both ends where the trouble spots are located was approved

The Killam Public Library 2023 Proposed Budget was approved with a requisition to the Town to be $12,000.

The Town of Killam 3-year operating and 5-year capital budgets were approved with an approximate 2.4% increase to property tax revenue in 2023, 2.0% in 2024 and 0.5% in 2025 as well as an additional special flat tax is to be implemented to cover power costs at the Killam

Agriplex and Killam memorial Arena

$250,00 from the Town's General bank Account will be invested into GICs

Killam Recreation board's 2021 financial statements and the 2023 proposed Budgets were approved

The request from Flagstaff Healthcare Attraction and Retention Committee for a financial contribution of S1.50/capita in 2023 was approved.

Support is given to Flagstaff Waste Management pilot, the 'Rigid Plastic' recycle program for one year to determine actual cost, value and impact, with Flagstaff Waste covering the cost of the pilot project for 2023.

Non-budgetary items/projects identified in the Community Survey will move forward in 2023 as follows:

  1. Handicapped parking stall on north end of Main Street
  2. Outdoor cross-country ski trails
  3. Signage on walking trails & directional signage to the trail system
  4. Removal of dead trees and tree limbs on west end of town
  5. Pickleball at area in the off season
  6. Remembrance day banners
