With all the phone calls to the Town Office, it is very clear that our local skunks are really loving all the amendities that Killam has to offer! Should you need a skunk trap, the Town does have them available. At this time, there is a waiting list, but if you call the Office at 780-385-3977, we will add you to the list!
Some tips to help keep skunks away from your property include:
1. Keep pet food indoors and secure garbage cans. Food remains the greatest pull for wildlife (coyotes included!). If possible, store your trash bins indoors at night, so the smell won't attract our furry neighbors.
2. Remove fruit that has fallen from your trees, especially those that produce berries, crab apples or nuts. Pick them as soon as they ripen and be sure to rake your yard as often as necessary.
3. Skunks don't make their own shelters. They rely on dens and burrows that they can find, either from other wildlife, or holes that lead under elevated homes, decks, sheds, porches and foundations. Use gravel, fencing or plywood to seal all holes and entrance points to locations that a skunk may think could be used as a new "home"!
Covenant Health and the Minister of Health, Sarah Hoffman, recently announced some exciting changes for the Killam Health Centre! A $13 million redevelopment project is planned for the facility, that will not only renovate the existing facility, but add an additional 24,000 square feet to the building. Once completed, the facility will house 50 suites providing multi-level care options for residents of Flagstaff County!

Due to regularily scheduled maintenance, the Flagstaff Regional Aquatic Centre will be closing on September 2 (after Fit Swim) with re-opening to take place October 3, 2016.
Take this opportunity to come out this weekend and enjoy these final days of summer, before back to school! Public Swim will be held Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28, from 2pm - 5pm both days.

CFCW's Food Drive!
With food bank usage up 23% this year, CFCW is sending out a drive show once a month to communities in Alberta to collect items for their own local food bank!
A.J. Keller will be onsite at Campbell-McLennan on Tuesday, August 30, from 1:00pm to 6:00pm, to help promote donations of food or cash for the Flagstaff Regional Food Bank! This is also an opportunity to enter in CFCW's "Happy Camper" contest!1234567891011121314151617181920
