2018 Tax Notices Mailed

2018-06-04 13:43:52

The 2018 Tax Notices for Killam properties has been mailed.  Please watch for it, and if you haven't received it within the week, please contact the Town Office at 780-385-3977 - and a new one will be sent to you!

The due date for the 2018 Property Tax Notices is Tuesday, July 31, 2018.  The Killam Town Office is open Monday - Friday, from 8:30am -4:00pm.  Cheques, cash or debit cards are accepted. E-transfers can also be arranged. Please call 780-385-3977 to do so.

If you feel your property tax assessment is too high, you may appeal it.  The Town Office has the 2018 Assessment Roll available for the public to view.  This allows you to compare the value of your property to another you think may be of similar value.  If you feel you are correct, we advise that you contact our Assessor and speak with him about your concerns.  Assessor for the Town of Killam is Wainwright Assessors, 780-842-5002.

Should you still feel you need to appeal your assessment, the Town Office has an Appeal Form that you will be required to complete and submit back to the Town Office before Tuesday, August 7, 2018.  An appeal fee is also due at the same time.  For Residetial and Farmland properties the fee is $50, Commercial and Non-Residential properties are $650.  Following the appeal review, the fees will be reimbursed if the decision is found in your favour.

Cat & Dog Owners

2018-06-04 13:20:00

The Killam Town Office has been recieving numberous complaints regarding cats and dogs being left to roam freely.

Be reminded that Bylaw 815A requires your pets to be under the Owners control when not on your own property. Having your cat or dog licensed (and wearing the tag!!) helps others get your pet back home if it does get lost.  As a pet Owner, please be responsible for the safety and care of your pet!
