Coyotes Within Town Limits

COYOTES

With the onset of Fall weather, the local coyote population is looking for some friendlier living conditions - and they have decided the Town might well be the place to be! After a number of reports about coyotes being seen within Town limits, we've contacted Alberta Fish and Wildlife for some information about deterring our unwelcomed visitors. The information below was taken for the Alberta Fish and Wildlife website, for more details, please visit: http://srd.alberta.ca/FishWildlife/FishWildlifeOfficers.HumanWildlifeConflict/Cyotes.aspx

Killam Adult Housing looking for Developers

2013-05-13 19:23:57

The Killam Adult Housing Committee is in search of Developers who may be interested in the opportunity to undertake the construction of “mature living”, “worry free” duplexes within the Town of Killam.  Killam is a thriving small town that can offer senior residents all the needed amenities such as local shopping venues, community services programs, and a fully functioning hospital with 4 doctors on staff.

The proposed project area available for purchase is ideally located, adjacent to an existing adult living complex which is close to Killams’ downtown.  The land allows for 4 duplex units and provides opportunity to utilize a beautiful southerly exposure.  Construction may be phased, building one or two units and selling, prior to proceeding with the next set.

The Killam Adult Housing Committee, after receiving positive feedback from area residents, is excited about this project and would be willing to assist in promoting and marketing this venture, should you so desire.

Please find included pictures, information regarding the requirements of the project, and suggested site drawings.   If you feel this is a project that you are interested in pursuing, please submit your project proposals and costs to:

A thriving town in east-central Alberta with a population of 981, Killam combines a modern urban lifestyle with the traditional values of a rural community.

Location

Killam is situated at the junction of two major highways, #13 the alternate to the Yellowhead extending east and west, and #36 extending north and south. Highway #36 was selected as an appropriate highway to remember Alberta Veterans because it runs most of the length of  the province for 626 kilometers from Warner to Lac La Biche.  A total of 82 trailblazer signs have been erected, while the existing Highway #36 signs will remain.  Approximately 2,500 vehicles travel the Veterans Memorial Highway each day.

Economy

In addition to serving the travelling public, economic activity revolves around the agriculture and oil and gas industries.

Killam area farms produce all the major grain and livestock varieties. Equipment dealers, welding shops, and mechanics work closely with area farmers to keep the industry growing.
