The Household Hazardous Waste Round Up will be held in Killam on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Public Works Yard (located along highway 13, just west of the John Deere dealership) between 3:00 and 5:00pm. Please watch our local newspaper for more information prior to the date!
Garbage sevices for the Town of Killam are provided by Flagstaff Regional Solid Waste Management Association. Residential pick up is scheduled for Fridays - please have garbage placed out by 7:30am. Drivers may use alternate routes and times when the burro is being rebuilt, or on double days that occur around holidays, or when replacement workers fill in (who may do a different route), so it is imperative that garbage be placed out by 7:30a.m.
Located east of Killam on Highway 13, past the Viterra elevator
Winter Hours (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
Tues - 8:30am - 4:30pm & Sat - 1:00 - 4:30pm
Summer Hours (Apr 1 - Oct 31)
Tues - 9:00 am - 6:30 pm & Sat - 1:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Please be advised of a $3.00 fee required at the transfer site upon each load, allowing for a half ton truck.
Additional Charges:
Appliances - $3.00
Appliances with Freon - $15.00
Propane Bottles: Please call Flagstaff Waste Management for these costs at: ( 780) 384 - 3950
Items not accepted at the transfer station include: commercial and industrial waste, concrete, dry waste products, and oil. Please call Flagstaff Waste Management for direction on proper disposal of these items.
Please make note that all paper recycling bins located at the Town Shop yard have been moved inside the shop gates. Only the Cardboard bins remain outside.
-PAPER BINS - located at the Town Shop yard, on the west end of Killam 5913-51 Avenue
Bin "A" is for newsprint, flyers and glossy flyers - (NO PLASTIC BAGS, TWINE, STRING, CATALOGUES OR PHONE BOOKS)
Bin "B" is for printed and unprinted stock paper, photocopying paper (white & colored), accounting paper, envelopes, manilla envelopes, accounting ledgers, index cards, shredded paper, rice paper, card stock and construction paper - (NO CARBON PAPER, BOXBOARD, PLASTIC BAGS, TWINE, STRING, CATALOGUES OR PHONE BOOKS)
-MILK JUGS AND #2 PLASTICS BINS - located at the Town Shop yard 5913-51 Ave.
-CARDBOARD BINS (all cardboard must be flattened) - located at the Town Shop yard 5913-51 Ave.
-BOTTLES & CANS - Located at the Killam Bottle Depot, rear access of 4926-50 St.
- Open Thur-Sat
-SEARS CATALOGUES - located at Tatters/Sears on mainstreet 5007-50 St.
-TELEPHONE BOOKS - To recycle your outdated telephone directory, please take it to: Recycle with Centra-Cam, 4402-51 Ave, Camrose.
PLEASE SORT ALL RECYCABLES PROPERLY AND DISPERSE OF EACH ITEM INTO THE APPROPRIATE BINS
